From 2002 to 2006, while attending San Diego State University, Johnzie joined Sigma Nu Fraternity and actively participated in the school's Greek Life operations. He served as Activities Director, Philanthropy Chair, and Non-Profit Liaison, where he led 2,500 students through service activities and events to benefit local non-profit organizations. Through this experience, he discovered a passion in helping the less fortunate and a seed was planted to one day start his own non-profit promoting community volunteerism.
Johnzie continued to serve in administrative roles with social empowerment and community groups in the following years, and in 2016, he gathered 36 volunteers from a music community group to provide over 500 meals to the homeless in Venice Beach. With the success of this event and encouragement from the volunteers, Peace Love Unity Respect Foundation (PLUR Foundation) was born and achieved 501(c)3 status before year end. Together with its strong member base, PLUR Foundation has organized community volunteer events serving multiple demographics. From the homeless, lonely elderly, children of low-income families, at-risk youth, to the environment, thousands of lives have been postively impacted.
Johnzie's passion is in art, music, fitness, and community building. His goal is to help people find happiness through volunteerism and to show the world that PLUR exists.
